Baraka means "blessing"

I have a brother that comes to stay with us for a few days every month. His name is Baraka. He comes to stay with us from Fountain of Zoe. It is a Children’s Home for little kids who don’t have moms and dads. They get to stay until they are four years old. Then they get to go to boarding school.

Baraka's mom had HIV. The day after he was born, his mom died. Baraka's dad brought him to Fountain of Zoe and said he never wnated to see Baraka again. He hasn't. The doctor told the workers at the orphanage that he had HIV and that he needed to begin taking antiretroviral medications immediately. The staff believed that Baraka would be healed and never gave him the medications. Now Baraka is 2 years old. We had him tested in January. He does not have HIV. God really did heal him!!

Baraka is a great kid. Baraka likes to sing. He likes to sing a song called, “Ebenezar.” But the funny part is, he sings, “He loves me CHO CHO much!” When Baraka is here I help get him ready for bed. I help him get dressed in the morning to. He is the SLOWEST eater. Baraka likes to play outside but he is afraid of the dogs. I like spending time with Baraka.
